We read the other reviews and booked
a cruise based on them. BUT the
other reviews do not appear accurate
and we wonder if they are false? The
boat is under new ownership but it
is not new. It is attractive but not
as attractive as others. We took a
two day one night cruise at the end
of Jan 2010. There were just 8
people on board and so we had lots
of space and our cabin was upgraded.
The cabin was well equiped and
comfortable - we didn't see the
standard cabin and so not sure what
that was like. The service was
friendy and the pick up efficient.
The food was over pretentious and
tasteless - we talked to the staff
and they did make efforts to improve
but for the price it was poor and we
heard others who had been on less
expensive boats had beautiful
seafood meals ... For the overnight
stop we mores next to a huge
Missippi style shi that had noisy
motors running all night and a movie
playing on the top deck late into
the evening - there must be other
places to stop.
We were one of the first passengers
to sail on the beautiful, brand new
boat. On boarding we were upgraded
to a suite. What a wonderful
surprise. The room was spacious and
the shower was ultra modern. Our
views from our decking were
breathtaking! The staff and
management bent over backwards to
please. The seafood meals were
outstanding and the chef prepared
several masterpiece works of art
made from different foods as show
pieces. The cruise around Halong Bay
was spectacular. We visited a
floating village and the Surprise
Caves which were a marvel. It was a
bit disappointing that we were not
able to do the kayaking. The ship
was spotless and I would highly
recommend booking this junk cruise.
You will not be disappointed. We
were sorry to leave the Paloma.
Thanks to Michael and the staff for
making our Halong Bay cruise such a
memorable pleasure.
“wow- what a
cruise”
The fantastic crew on The Paloma
made our stay extremely memorable.
The boat was stunning and service
impeccable. We were very worried
when we booked our cruise as you
hear so many horror stories and you
want the halong bay trip to be
perfect, and it was. The great thing
was they stayed away from the other
junks so felt like you had the whole
bay to yourselves. They took us
kayaking around a floating village,
the kids were amazing. Would
definitely recommend this cruise to
anyone. It is certainly better to
pay that extra as we traveled in
luxury. The food was outstanding, if
you like seafood!! Kim and Michael
were exceptional, we were sad when
we had to leave.
